9/20 is Magic Mushroom Day!

Untitled (2)

9/20 is Magic Mushroom Day!

It’s that time of year, boys and girls!

The end of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the perfect time to celebrate 9/20.

Every year, the 20th of September, is officially Magic Mushroom Day

This day is a lovely reminder to honor the profound impact these fungi have had on us, various global cultures, history, human consciousness, and yes, even science.

Join us as we delve into the world of magic mushrooms and explore why September 20th holds a special place in the hearts of psychonauts, researchers, microdosers, and nature lovers alike.

The Magic of Magic Mushrooms

Magic mushrooms, scientifically known as psilocybin mushrooms, have captivated human beings for centuries with their mystical properties.

These fungi contain compounds like psilocybin and psilocin, which induce altered states of consciousness and often elicit profound spiritual experiences.

Cultures across the globe, from ancient civilizations to modern societies, have revered these mushrooms for their ability to connect individuals to nature, promote introspection, and provide a glimpse into altered realities.

The use of these mushrooms prompted scientists to use words such as ‘mystical and profound’ as a way to describe their scientific conclusions.

Cultural and Spiritual Significance

As we know, various cultures have incorporated magic mushrooms into their rituals, ceremonies, and spiritual practices.

Indigenous communities in Central and South America, such as the Mazatec people, have been using these mushrooms for centuries as a means of communing with spirits and gaining insights.

Have you read my recent article on Maria Sabina, the original medicine woman?

In these cultures, magic mushrooms have been regarded as sacred tools that facilitate communication with the divine and offer guidance on matters of life and healing.

The Modern Psychedelic Renaissance

The 20th century saw a resurgence of interest in magic mushrooms.

These organisms from the third kingdom have captured the attention of scientists, artists, and counter-culture movements largely due to this article published in 1956  in Time magazine.

Researchers began to study the potential therapeutic effects of psilocybin, leading to discoveries about its potential in treating mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Additionally, the psychedelic movement of the 1960s and 70s brought magic mushrooms to the forefront of cultural exploration, inspiring a wave of artistic expression, music, and alternative lifestyles.

A watershed moment was when magic mushrooms were decriminalized in Denver back in 2019.

Since then, the domino effect has spread far and wide

9/20 is a holiday that we’ve only started celebrating recently.

In 2015, a mushroom advocate named Nicholas Reville declared this day of September as an ‘educational day of action’.

Rolling Stone magazine reported that Reveille’s ultimate intention is to encourage dialogue regarding the benefits of psilocybin.

Scientific Breakthroughs

This past decade alone has seen scientific interest in psilocybin and its therapeutic skyrocket into a whole renaissance.

Clinical trials have shown promising results in using psilocybin-assisted therapy to treat conditions that were once considered treatment-resistant.

The ability of magic mushrooms to induce transformative experiences has opened up new avenues for mental health treatment and personal growth.

Even at Microdose Pro, we are constantly learning from our community members.

These past 3 years have taught us so much about the positively unintended consequence of microdosing psilocybin.

Like spores, the benefits of psilocybin appear to spread far and wide.

Celebrating Magic Mushroom Day

Magic Mushroom Day is not just a celebration of the fungi themselves, but also a tribute to the profound impact they’ve had on human consciousness and cultural evolution.

The Stoned Ape theory even suggests psilocybin is responsible for our evolution.

Ultimately, there is no way to know if the theory is true but definitely worth pondering.

Whether you’re a seasoned psychonaut, a curious explorer, or simply someone who appreciates the wonders of nature, this is a perfect day to effect the interconnectedness of all life and the mysteries that lie beyond our ordinary perceptions.

How to Celebrate

Education

Take the time to learn about the history, cultural significance, and scientific research surrounding magic mushrooms.

Take this day to nerd out a little and learn more about their complexities and capacity to enhance the human experience.

Nature-bathing

If possible, spend time outdoors and connect with the natural world.

Magic mushrooms often grow in symbiotic relationships with trees and plants.

Did someone say forest bathing?

Reflect and Meditate

Today, and perhaps even all month, aim to engage in introspection and self-discovery.

Whether through meditation, movement, and/or journaling, explore your thoughts, emotions, and aspirations.

Perhaps this is a good time to journal, set intentions for the last few months of 2023, and also consider how psilocybin can support you toward these aspirations.

Create Art

Channel your inner artist and express your feelings about magic mushrooms through various art forms.

Whether it’s painting, writing, music, singing, or dancing, let your creativity flow.

Run the hose on your imagination, express yourself, and create something.

Join Virtual Events

In today’s interconnected world, you can participate in online seminars, discussions, and virtual gatherings that explore the cultural, spiritual, and scientific aspects of magic mushrooms.

Have you joined our group coaching calls for microdosing beginners?

It happens twice a month, please RSVP to join the next call.

9/20 is a global celebration of the profound connection between humanity and the natural mycelium world.

From ancient spiritual practices to cutting-edge scientific research, magic mushrooms are the mycelial tapestry that supports our mental health and captivates our curiosity.

Let us remember that the magic of these fungi extends far beyond their physical form, reaching into the realms of the mind, spirit, and human potential.

What has your experience with psilocybin been like?

If you’re a boomer, has it changed over the years?

  • I am looking forward to learning more about the benefits of the magic shrooms. I used them many years ago in college but have gotten away from them. I was looking to return to my roots.

      Hi Bill,

Yes, indeed! I think it’s wonderful when individuals begin to look at mushies with fresh eyes. They can be used recreationally but when we find our Minimal Effective Dose and implement it with intention and attention, then it’s a whole new ball game.

Do you know about our free group coaching calls? They take place twice a month on a Tuesday evening. Would be great to have you join us, if you are interested.
